Matt Nichol
Matt has been working as a Garden Designer since 2001 after he completed his training at Pershore college. He worked with a leading industry design firm Notcutts Landscapes for several years where he gained invaluable experience designing both real gardens and show gardens at both Chelsea and the NEC Gardeners World Live.
Matt has won numerous national awards throughout his career for building real gardens rather than RHS show gardens. Most recently he won an award at the prestigious Society of Garden Designer awards 2024. Prior to this he won a ‘Design Excellence’ award at the BALI awards in 2018 (British Association of Landscape Industries), a Northern Design award in 2012 for ‘Garden Designer of the Year’ and an APL award (2004).

In addition, Matt undertakes judging duties for the British Association of Landscape Industries national award scheme and is an accreditor and trainer for the Society of Garden Designers, specialising in ‘technical and setting out’ drawing techniques.
Matt enjoys working with his clients to create imaginative and practical gardens. His thoughtful approach to design considers location and lifestyle in balance to achieve gardens which are sympathetic to their surroundings and the client’s needs.
Attention to detail throughout the design process ensures that whatever the style or size of garden the construction and planting will always stand the test of time.
