Creative Gardens & Driveways were proud to be part of the latest episode of ITV’s ‘Love Your Garden’, the garden makeover show with Alan Titchmarsh.
Love your Garden is now in its 13th season and Alan and the team are tackling some of the most problematic gardens they have ever encountered for some of the most deserving recipients of a complete garden makeover.
Following the same format as previous services, Alan visits a garden for inspiration, and in this episode, he visits a garden in Altrincham designed and built by David and the team at Creative Gardens & Driveways.
In the show we see Alan and his team design and build a beautiful garden for a family that play a huge part in the local community and deserve their dream garden. The Love your Garden cast work together to transform spaces of all shapes and sizes and overcome challenges, all whilst providing the viewers at home with top garden tips.
Alan takes a lot of inspiration from the garden we designed, looking to recreate many of the ideas and themes that we came up with as he saw many similarities with this garden design and the one that he was looking to create.
This was an exciting project for the team at Creative Gardens & Driveways. The brief was to create a modern garden with a series of outdoor entertaining zones each with a different purpose.
The garden was on a sloping site so a series of different levels were created using paving, steps and retaining walls.
Each ‘zone’ had a different purpose including an area for cooking with a fabulous outdoor kitchen from Grillo. A second area was a large paved area for dining, with further areas for lounging and relaxing.
Each area of the garden was complemented by low maintenance planting that would look good all year round and helped to soften the paved areas and create separation for each zone.
During the episode of Love Your Garden Alan describes the garden:
“This is more Balearics than Burnley. This is a garden which uses hard landscaping in different colours and different shapes which makes it much more interesting.
“You can see how this area has been divided up with walls of different heights. It’s also been divided into three different sections, each of which has a different function.
“Forget potting sheds or greenhouses. Here, it’s about daybeds for lounging. Sleek outdoor kitchens and private party spaces. And these cool clean lines are echoed in the architectural forms that surround them.
“The designer here has deliberately kept the planting low maintenance, this is an area where the family wants to relax rather than keep on gardening.
“What it looks like now it will pretty much look like right the way through the year which means you, without feeling guilty, can lie back on your recliner.”
