Celebrating 25 Years of Creative Gardens & Driveways

25 Years Of Incredible Garden Design: Looking Back as We Approach a Special Milestone

This June marks a truly special occasion for our team. We are preparing to celebrate 25 years of Creative Gardens & Driveways, reflecting on a quarter of a century spent transforming outdoor spaces across Cheshire and the surrounding areas. Since our foundation in 2001, we have grown from a single, simple idea into an established, award-winning landscaping business proudly serving the North West.

Before we officially celebrate next month, we wanted to take a moment to reflect on the journey so far. Building a business over two and a half decades requires passion, dedication and an unwavering commitment to quality, which our entire team holds. It is these qualities that have made Creative Gardens & Driveways the landscaping company it is today, and we are extremely proud of what we have achieved.

Over the years, we have seen not just our business grow, but the entire landscaping industry. Gardens have evolved over this time from simple lawns and patios into sophisticated, sustainable extensions of the home that are unique to each property.

Through our steady growth and ongoing commitment to the craft, Creative Gardens & Driveways has become a trusted name for homeowners seeking effortless outdoor elegance. In this post, we want to share where it all began and our experience in the changing landscape of garden design over the past few decades.

The Creative Gardens & Driveways Story: From One Opportunity to 25 Years of Experience

Every long-standing business has a unique origin story. Ours began when our Managing Director, David Hadley, decided to make a major career change. Leaving behind a stressful corporate career in IT, David chose to pursue a long-held passion for horticulture and outdoor design. That bold decision became the very foundation of the company we operate today.

Starting a new venture is always daunting. However, early support from the Prince’s Trust provided David the confidence needed to build something meant for the long term, and it is one of the primary reasons we are operating so successfully today, 25 years later.

You can read more about how Creative Gardens & Driveways began through our early success with The Prince’s Trust in this post, A Prince’s Trust Success Story.

During the initial days of what would become Creative Gardens & Driveways, the company focused on small-scale garden improvements in the North West, allowing us to build a strong reputation through word of mouth, trust and exceptional workmanship.

Now 25 years later, we proudly reflect on how that initial leap of faith from both David and the Prince’s Trust has paved the way for our flourishing, award-winning business.

Our journey as leading garden designers has been driven by a genuine love for the work from the very beginning. Our passion has grown, and the whole team holds a genuine love for creating spaces that homeowners can enjoy year after year.

Steady Growth and a Strong Reputation 25 Years In The Making

The milestone of 25 years in business presents a wonderful opportunity to look back at how our company has expanded and the way our work has changed over the years.

What started as a sole founder with a vision has blossomed into a highly capable, regional landscaping company. Currently, our team consists of approximately 20 highly skilled staff members. We generate an annual turnover of around £2 million, allowing us to deliver comprehensive design and build projects across the region.

Our growth has always been steady and reputation-led, owing to the quality of our work and the genuine passion our team has for what they do. We have never sought to expand too quickly. Instead, we have focused on maintaining consistent quality across every single project, which has led to the incredible growth and development you see today.

How Garden Design Has Changed in 25 Years

The landscaping industry has experienced a massive shift since 2001, and Creative Gardens & Driveways has been growing right alongside it.

When we first started, our garden design projects relied heavily on hand-drawn plans and sketches. Discussions were led entirely by imagination, and clients had a limited ability to visualise the final result before the physical work actually began.

This has all changed 25 years later, thanks to the development of garden design technology and our own skillset, which can only come from decades of experience doing this work we love.

The Rise of Garden Design Technology

Fast forward to today, and the garden design process is entirely different. At Creative Gardens & Driveways, we now use advanced garden design technology to bring ideas to life long before a single paving stone is laid.

Our team provides state-of-the-art 3D garden designs, giving our clients the ability to see highly accurate representations of their future spaces. This ensures complete satisfaction early on, and allows us to deliver detailed, creative and in-depth landscaping renovations to suit their needs.

Video Walkthroughs and VR Visualisations

Beyond standard 3D models, we offer full video walkthroughs and VR headset visualisations for our garden designs. This modern approach matters because it allows clients to clearly see their future garden and is part of the reason why we continue to be a leading name for landscape design today.

These modern design programs make decision-making much easier for our clients and foster a truly collaborative design process.

With this contemporary garden design approach, homeowners can now feel complete confidence in the proposed design. These detailed plans can demonstrate a lot more than our initial sketches and traditional drawings ever could, so clients know exactly how the finished space will look and function.

A Thank You to Our Customers

Reaching 25 years in business would simply not be possible without the continued trust of our incredible customers. Every single garden we have designed, every driveway we have installed, and every patio we have laid has played a vital part in shaping our business.

We are incredibly grateful for the homeowners who have allowed us to transform their properties.
