The brief with this amazing project was to reinvent a dated and tired suburban garden into one that inspires and facilitates the owner’s new gardening hobby including growing vegetables.
We designed and installed a productive kitchen garden area complete with cutting flower garden, raised beds and a greenhouse for edibles and over wintering tender plants. We also created entertaining spaces and areas for relaxation that can be used at different times of the day.
A Hartley Botanic greenhouse provides an elegant focus for the garden as well as providing a space for plant propagation and weather protection. Its also a nice place for a cup of tea on a rainy day. Find out more about Hartley Botanic here.
The use of practical robust materials that compliment the house style was important. The inclusion of the sound of running water helps to disguise conversations between adjacent gardens.
Marshalls sawn Versuro paving provides the right balance of traditional and modern and the Corten Steel pergolas provides height and structure to the space.
The varied shrub and perennial planting palette, layered with bulb planting and wild flower turf all help to increase the existing biodiversity of the garden and well as providing all year round interest.
The end result combines a timeless design with high quality materials, expertly installed, to ensure the garden has a long and productive life.
