Odd-Shaped Garden Design in Stockport

This garden renovation took place in Stockport on an odd-shaped landscape. The garden was an awkward shape, which had made previous attempts at landscaping difficult. The existing surface was covered in old tarmac, which was worn and uninviting.

As the garden was an awkward shape, our clients had struggled to make use of their garden and wanted a new design to highlight their extensive plant collection and greenhouse.

Our Garden Design Solution

For this garden renovation, we proposed a new layout that centred around the greenhouse to put our client’s plants as the main focus. They have an extensive collection of succulents, which was included in the central design to be enjoyed from all angles.

To complement this open, nature-focused approach to garden design, we also proposed a combination of natural materials and paving layouts. With local gravel and Indian Sandstone, this garden renovation focuses on natural beauty, while also remaining low-maintenance tthroughout the year.

Key Features Of The Garden Design

This design saw the existing landscape excavated and proposed a whole new layout to put our client’s plants at the forefront. A combination of soft and hard landscaping features was implemented to give the new look, including:

  • Indian sandstone paving for the main dining area and paths
  • Pink Staffordshire gravel used to create soft-edged gravel gardens, complete with plants and flowers
  • Large stone boulders as decoration and simple focal points, including a bespoke water feature and monolith focal point
  • A feature Acer tree with lighting to be highlighted even at night
  • Planting borders to edge the lawn and soften the gravel areas, creating a natural flow throughout the garden

Finished Result

This incredible garden design sees the once-worn and misused landscape full of life. This is now a natural and welcoming garden full of textures and planting, highlighting our client’s interests and creating a space they can enjoy all year round.

A natural and welcoming garden full of texture and planting. A space for growing, relaxing and enjoying year-round.
