East Cheshire Hospice in Macclesfield is in full bloom this summer thanks to a generous donation of plants organised by a local company.
The hospice appealed in May for financial support to replace plants across its outdoor areas, kitchen garden, sensory garden and patient rooms.
David Hadley, owner of Bramhall based Creative Gardens & Driveways heard the appeal and decided to go one step further by ensuring the hospice received not just funds, but the right plants and expert horticultural advice on where they should be positioned.
“When I heard the appeal, I knew immediately that we had to help,” commented David. “Plants play such an uplifting role in our lives and it was clear the hospice recognised the comfort that spending time among nature brings to its residents and their families. It was really an honour to be able to help a local organisation in need.”
David contacted his wholesale plant supplier Viridis Plants which swiftly offered to help by supplying £1,000 worth of flora to the hospice. Plants were carefully selected for each area of the hospice including welcoming shrubs for the entrance driveway, edible herbs for the kitchen garden, and sweet-scented blooms for the sensory garden.
The donation was successfully delivered by Viridis and Creative Gardens & Driveways last week and will be planted with the help of wider local businesses throughout this month. The makeover of the hospice’s grounds is so impressive it will now be entered into this year’s Britain in Bloom competition.
“We are absolutely delighted with the donation from Creative Gardens & Driveways and Viridis Plants,” comments Lisa Ball, corporate fundraising manager for Cheshire East Hospice. “These two companies have collaborated to deliver something incredibly special to our hospice that will last for years to come. Having peaceful and beautiful plants throughout the hospice makes a genuine difference to the families we care for and we are incredibly grateful for the support we have received.”
